Students with undergraduate studies concentrating in economics and other quantitative areas have often applied for the position, although all interested parties are encouraged to apply.

The assistant financial analyst primarily provides support in the preparation of quarterly portfolio performance reports to clients. This entails managing client account statements and working with our portfolio management and reporting software. The assistant analyst will also provide supporting analyses generating data incorporated into the performance reports. This work is heavily quantitative and computer oriented. In the early months of the year, we would also request the analyst provide preparation support on client income tax returns and tax plans. We provide training on all portfolio and tax work, thus no prior experience in these areas is required although prior experience is a positive.

This is not a sales or sales support position. We intentionally do not refer to the opportunity as as internship because we do not intend to provide a general overview of the financial services industry, but rather a position which has specific professional requirements.

Exposure to broader areas of personal financial, tax and estate planning projects is available depending on the hours the analyst is available to work, although during the school year most analysts are time constrained in this regard. A commitment of at least 12 hours per week is requested of candidates for the position, which is flexible although we request sensitivity to business needs particularly during reporting cycles and the February - March tax season. Paid on the job training will be provided. The beginning training wage is $10.00 per hour and subject to review usually after only a quarter or two depending on performance. Broader hours and project responsibilities are often available to the analyst seeking employment over the summer months.
